That’s right Hockey fans, Buffalo is on fire this week.
Ryan Miller signed a 5 year contract extension with the Sabres today as a collective sigh of relief was heard around the region. As we all know, Miller was entering his final contracted year, and at least some of us were worried the Sabres would wait until March 15th again to start talking.
But apparently miracles can come true and the Sabres organization has learned from it’s past [mistakes]. Our Millsie is now signed with the club through the 2013-2014 season, and we plaza-partiers couldn’t be happier. The other terms are not yet available.
Rumors floated that Ryan’s anger about the Soupie situation would lead him to pursue other teams. Thankfully he graciously looked past those messy negotiations and possibly realized just how much Buffalo loves him (need i mention his stats? 76 games last year? .906 save percentage? totally awesome guy?), and maybe how much he loves Buffalo.
The schedule is self explanatory, but I’ll give you a link. Notable games include a visit to Chicago on Jan 14, at home against Detroit on April 6th, and home Lea[ve]s games on Dec 12 and Feb 4 & 27. Remember, we’re only playing divisional teams 6 times this year instead of 8, which means one less Lea[ve]s home game :-(. (Ps, you should click that link, it’s hilarious.)
I love hockey.
